The Christian Education Commission of The First Congregational Church of Reading, U.C.C., thought to set up a prayer blog for church members. This is an Adult Christian Ed—or ACE—activity.
The plan is to have various church members blog their prayers on a regular basis. They can post prayers that they have composed themselves or prayers composed by others, which they have found to be meaningful.
We use the word prayer inclusively. To us, prayers are writings that give spiritual meaning to our lives, be they formal prose, poems or song lyrics. People in all times and places have sought the divine, so we do not explicitly restrict ourselves to expressions of formal Christian thought. God has spoken to people in ages past and speaks to them still. The God of love speaks to all people who but take time to listen.
